Primary Curriculum:

The Academic Plan for the Primary classed is a compilation of all the concepts and sub-concepts covered during the academic year.

The detailed progression of concepts right from Nursery to Grade 5 are organised as follows:

• Early Programme (Lower Kindergarten, Upper Kindergarten): Here the concepts are organised around six developmental areas – language; mathematical; creative; physical; knowledge and understanding of the world; and personal, social and emotional development. The Academic Plan provides an overview of how these faculties are developed through various themes in each grade.

• Junior and Middle Programmes: Here the concepts are organised into three subjects – English, Maths and Environmental Science for junior programme, while the Middle Programme (Grades 4 and 5) is organised into 4 subjects – English, Maths, Science and Social Science. The Curriculum lays out the concepts being covered in each subject across grades and is mapped against the syllabus guidelines

The Purpose

The Syllabus gives a detailed view of all the concepts covered at each grade, the depth to which each of them is covered and how the progression builds up across grades. The syllabus is structured in a way to organise the sequence of transaction of concepts in the academic year in advance and prioritise learning goals to ensure optimum learning in each grade.
